According to Erick Thohir, collaborating with VinFast will accelerate the development of an electric car factory in Indonesia. Erick Thohir revealed this when visiting the VinFast factory in Vietnam, Saturday (13/1/2024).

“This factory is able to compete with global electric automotive players by having a factory in the US. "VinFast produces 250 thousand cars per year," said Erick in a post on social media.

To strengthen the electric vehicle ecosystem, Indonesia is collaborating with VinFast to build an electric car factory. The total investment from this collaboration, said Erick, is 1.2 billion US dollars or the equivalent of Rp. 18.7 trillion.

President Joko Widodo visited the VinFast electric car factory and office in Hai Phong, Vietnam. "Together with VinFast Chairman Pham Nat Vuong, we directly visited the VinFast electric car factory, saw the assembly process, installing car batteries, and tried the sensation of sitting behind the wheel of a VinFast electric car," said President Jokowi.

Jokowi emphasized his support for VinFast's investment plans in Indonesia. This is an industry that is growing very rapidly so the presence of VinFast in Indonesia will make the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia more developed.
