Foreign capital flow into Indonesia reached IDR 6.37 trillion in December
JAKARTA — Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that there was an inflow of foreign capital into the Indonesian market in the third week of December 2023. Based on transaction data from 18-21 December 2023, the flow of foreign capital in the domestic financial market was recorded as a net purchase of IDR 6.37 trillion.
"This consists of net selling of IDR 0.12 trillion on the Government Securities (SBN) market, net buying of IDR 1.52 trillion on the stock market, and net buying of IDR 4.97 trillion on Bank Indonesia Rupiah Securities (SRBI)," said Executive Director of the BI Communications Department Erwin Haryono in his written statement, Friday (22/12/2023).
During 2023, Erwin said that based on settlement data up to December 21 2023, non-residents bought a net IDR 81.40 trillion on the SBN market and sold a net IDR 11.61 trillion on the stock market. Apart from that, BI also recorded a net purchase of IDR 52.81 trillion at SRBI.
BI recorded the 5-year Indonesian credit default swap (CDS) premium as of December 21 2023 at 68.64 basis points (bps). "Indonesia's CDS premium has decreased slightly compared to December 15 2023 of 68.78 bps," said Erwin.
Bank Indonesia noted that the 10-year SBN yield fell 6.48 percent on Thursday (21/12/2023). On Friday (29/9/2023), the 10-year SBN yield fell 6.45 percent.
The Rupiah closed at Rp. 15,520 per US dollar on Thursday (21/12/2023). Furthermore, the rupiah opened at Rp. 15,480 per US dollar on Friday (22/12/2023).
Erwin ensured that Bank Indonesia would continue to strengthen coordination with the government and related authorities. BI is also optimizing the policy mix strategy to maintain macroeconomic and financial system stability to support further economic recovery.
