Vice presidential debate: Candidate must explain downstream model
JAKARTA -- Head of the Center of Industry, Trade and Investment Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) Andry Satrio Nugroho said the vice presidential candidates (cawapres) need to explain the development of downstream models in the cawapres debate which will be held on Friday, December 22 2023 , Evening.
Andry said that the main challenge currently is how the country can generate maximum profits from commodity restrictions that will be eliminated. He hopes that prospective leaders will offer concrete solutions and new thinking that can have a positive impact on the economy and social welfare.
"Welfare issues and low indicators in downstream areas are an important focus that leaders need to resolve in the future," said Andry.
Andry highlighted that the answer to this challenge must include concrete solutions to improve the welfare of communities in downstream areas. According to Andry, the vice presidential candidates need to discuss strategic steps that can be taken to improve welfare at the local level.
He added that downstream directs these commodities into an industrialization process that can provide added value.
