SOUTH LAMPUNG -- Mount Anak Krakatau in the waters of the Sunda Strait, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, experienced an eruption on Wednesday 13 December 2023 at 12.02 WIB. The height of the ash column was observed to be around 600 meters above the peak or around 757 meters above sea level.
Head of the Mount Anak Krakatau Monitoring Post, Andi Suardi, confirmed that the incident occurred at 12.02 WIB.
"The eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau occurred on Wednesday, December 13 2023, at 12:02 WIB. The height of the eruption column was observed to be approximately 600 meters above the peak 757 meters above sea level," said Andi, in Hargopancuran, Rajabasa District, South Lampung , Wednesday (13/12/2023).
The height of the eruption column was observed to be around 600 meters above the peak or around 757 meters above sea level. "The ash column was observed to be gray in color with moderate intensity, leaning towards the northeast. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 65 mm and a duration of 40 seconds," he said.
