President Jokowi praised BRI for consistently supporting MSMEs

Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appreciated the UMKM EXPO(RT) BRILIANPRENEUR exhibition because this activity supports national MSMEs to move up in class and be competitive on the international stage.
This was conveyed by President Joko Widodo when opening the UMKM EXPO(RT) BRILIANPRENEUR 2023 held by PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, recently.
Jokowi emphasized that Indonesian MSMEs need to upgrade, go digital and go international. He reminded that although MSMEs must be able to dominate the local market, they should not forget the potential of the export market or global market.
Jokowi assessed that the expo held by BRI was of very good quality, both in terms of the products displayed and in terms of interactions between the MSMEs participating in the expo and buyers.
Jokowi explained that the contribution of local domestic MSME products to the global market is still limited, even low compared to a number of neighboring countries.
As an illustration, he continued, only 15.7 percent of Indonesian MSME products entered the export market. Compare this with Singapore which is around 41% and Thailand 29 percent.
To MSME players, Jokowi never gets tired of reminding MSME products that they must always look at market demand, trends and market tastes that are developing, and also always make product improvements so that they remain up to date and able to meet the existing market.
Indonesian BUMN Minister Erick Thohir said that MSMEs are a priority for national economic growth. BRI, as the bank with the largest portfolio in the MSME segment, which consistently holds the BRILIANPRENEUR UMKM EXPO(RT) event, is expected to continue to actively build a good ecosystem for MSME players to grow and advance in class.
Furthermore, Erick emphasized that the slogan 'Small Care, Safeguarding MSMEs' is real proof that the government is present and working really for the Indonesian people.
BRI President Director Sunarso emphasized that MSMEs must get lots of export opportunities and enter international markets. Especially considering the position of MSMEs which are the backbone of the national economy.
